The Google Wallet Team
Firstly it seems that my email to them expressing my concerns wasn’t completely read. Aside from the fact that the reply from Google addresses none of the concerns they go as far as to state
My concern never was that Google would share my personal information deliberately, my concerns were firstly their requirement to even have such personal information and secondly the potential for a data breach to expose that information to a third party. Ive already accepted that there is nothing private about email sent through Gmail for example. A look at the targeted advertising in the side panel of the Gmail window is a prime example of this. There is no doubt that these adverts are chosen based upon the subject lines and the message body of your recent emails. Want to give it a shot? Send 5 emails with ‘Wedding’ related subjects and contents and see how the adverts change…
If Google truly understood my concerns then I would have expected an email reply that reflected this, I don’t feel that the above does.
I called Google support this morning on the phone again as a response to this email and was advised that I would need to speak to a specialist. The CSR this morning then advised me that the specialist CSR’s only operated between 7:30PM and 12:30PM.. At night.. PST.. Am I the only one that find it odd that these specialists work such strange hours?
As it stands this is now the third day that I’ve been dealing with this “issue”. IM on my 8th or 9th phone call to them and probably up to 5 emails (of which only one of which has elicited a reply)
I responded to Google this morning with the below. It will be interesting to see what they come back with and if they are interested in getting this situation resolved..
To whom it may concern
I challenge you on the claim that the security of my information is your top security. Were that the case you wouldn’t be asking me to send my personal information to you across the internet, risking it’s interception and malicious use. What is apparent however is that your top security is limiting your liability at the cost of user satisfaction.
It is also apparent that you haven’t fully read my initial email as you haven’t addressed any of the concerns listed within.
I have now made 9 separate phone calls to the Wallet Help-desk and sent multiple emails. This unacceptable saga is now entering its third day.
